Industry and the public sector are particularly struggeling with the use of novel techniques from the areas of artificial intelligence and data science. The research field Smart Cities and Industries focuses on advancing the digital transformation of industry and the public sector. This includes introducing data-driven techniques in companies, as well as improving management and operation of urban infrastructures, particularly energy and mobility systems. Methodologically, the research builds on concepts from the areas of artificial intelligence, operations research and information system design. The overall mission is to develop solutions that lead to better business performance, lower ecological footprints and/or increased fairness.
