Data-Driven Decisions Group @JMU

Our Research Areas

Our research covers four distinct yet interconnected areas, each focused on driving innovation and addressing key challenges in today’s digital landscape.

Logistics

Our research focuses on developing AI-driven solutions to help supply chain managers navigate uncertainty and leverage vast amounts of data. We combine machine learning and optimization techniques to automate decision-making, improve forecasting accuracy, and enhance supply chain resilience.

Business Analytics

We specialize in analyzing extensive empirical data—such as sensor outputs, transaction logs, and web-scraped information—and integrating these analyses with advanced optimization techniques. This approach enables the development of data-driven decision support systems that enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness.

E-Business

Our research explores how digital data and analytics reshape business processes and competitive strategies. We focus on the rise of data-driven business models, which have the potential to disrupt industries and redefine value networks.

Enterprise AI

Our research focuses on advancing the digital transformation of industries and the public sector, exploring how AI and data science can drive innovation and improve efficiency in smart cities and industries.

Marketing Analytics

We study topics in quantitative marketing, marketing analytics, and behavioral and experimental economics. Our research focuses on understanding the behavior and decision-making of consumers and firms in the digital economy.

Our Research Projects

Our group is involved in a diverse range of research projects, including externally funded initiatives such as KI-regio and self-sustained projects like ddop.

Our Team

Our team consists of four chairs, each led by a professor, along with one postdoc and a group of research associates. With overlapping interests in Data-driven Operations & Supply Chain Management, eBusiness, Smart Cities & Industries, and Data Science, we collaborate on projects that leverage AI, data science, and digital transformation to drive innovation and solve complex challenges across industries.

Industry Projects

We actively collaborate with industry partners to apply our research in real-world contexts. Our EU-funded project KI-Regio is one example of how we bridge academic insight with industrial practice.
